    Our comprehensive three-day professional development workshop designed for teachers, parents and community organizers to support existing youth garden programs with hands-on lessons, resources to educate the next generation of gardeners and environmental aligned standards.

    -Explore lessons in gardening and fresh from the garden recipes.
    -Hands-on activities in the garden in soil, propagation and strategies in gardening with kids!
    -Participants will harvest and prepare a garden to plate locally produced and sourced lunch.
    -Classroom program overview in the culinary arts room that supports TEKS objectives in the core subjects.
    -Sustainability and team building to support youth garden programs in resources and maintenance.
    -The workshop includes lunch and refreshments, a copy of the Urban Harvest School Garden Guide, garden seeds, and more!
    -Includes a half-day Field Trip to School and Affiliate Community Garden sites.
    -Teachers may earn up to 16 CPE’s.

    PRESENTERS
    Various long-time Urban Harvest Presenters, such as, Sherry Cruse is an Urban Harvest Garden Educators and Texas Master Gardeners. She has been teaching adults and children about plants and gardening for nearly 20 years.

    Kellie Karavias is a 20-year veteran educator with a passion for growing smart and healthy scholars, was awarded an HEB Educator of Excellence Leadership recognition, for her life's work--growing scholars through gardening and edible education.

    COMMUNITY PARTNER
    The Cultivated Classroom at Gregory-Lincoln Education Center is an affiliate community garden and the location of the award-winning Cultivated Classroom culinary program led by founder, director, and teacher, Kellie Karavias. www.thecultivatedclassroom.com
