    Presenter
Dr. Catherine O'Brien was a biology professor and the Associate Vice Chancellor at San Jacinto College when she retired after 35 years to go back to the class. She then spent 6 years teaching anatomy and physiology before retiring again from UHCL to spend more time traveling, cooking, studying, gardening, and teaching others about herbs.
Catherine has taught zoology, botany, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology, but when it came to botany, her professors always said, "Plants were food for animals. Any questions?"
It was not until she began gardening that she learned how exciting plants could be. She is a member of the Native Plant Society of Texas - Clear Lake Chapter and member of the Herb Society of America - South Texas Unit, where she chairs the Education Committee.
