Location: Trees for Houston Bauer Education Center

    1911 W. 34th St., Houston, TX 77018

Join us as we explore the healing powers of herbs. For this exciting class, we will explore scientific research as it demonstrates how plants affect our health. Historically, humans consumed more vegetables and herbs, however, in modern times this is no longer the case. This change has a drastic effect on our health and diets. We’ll learn about specialty and common herbs that are readily available and how to use and prepare them.

PRESENTER Justin Duncan is a Sustainable Agriculture Specialist with the National Center for Appropriate Technology's Southwest Regional Office. He has a BS in Agronomy from Prairie View A&M University and an MS in Plant Breeding from Texas A&M University. He’s spent years figuring out the nuts-and-bolts of successful organic farming in the humid South, concentrating mainly on sweet potatoes, strawberries, niche market ethnic specialty crops, cover crops and drought mitigation techniques. He is currently working on cover crop projects in south Texas to help farmers there build organic matter in their soil.

If you cannot attend the class as scheduled, there are no refunds or substitutions.

Registration will close 24 hours prior to most classes and 48 hours before all Sunday classes.

(At registration you will receive two emails, one is a receipt and the other will be sent a few days prior to the class with event details that include Zoom link (if necessary) and contact information. Contact education@urbanharvest.org for questions.)
