  • Composting is a process every gardener should utilize for keeping plants healthy! Along with the benefit of being able to recycle your food scraps, it also balances soil density (good for the roots!), provides much needed nutrients, keeps the soil moist for longer, and provides protection against pests. Led by Janice Brown, this class will provide an introduction to composting, what goes into starting a composting pile, and garden maintenance. We will also go over the monthly do's and don'ts in regards to maintaining compost.

    This class is part of a series. Any participant is welcome to drop in on any class. During the 2nd half of class, we may work in local gardens, so come dressed for gardening if you'd like to join us!

    PRESENTER:
    Janice Brown has over 20 years of gardening experience on the Gulf Coast. She is the owner of On the Grow Garden coaching service which has been serving the Houston metro area for 10 years. She's a Master Gardener and Master Naturalist who uses her extensive knowledge to coach new gardeners to gardening success. As a consultant she is the residential garden expert for the Texas Home and Garden Show and has consulted for a multitude of garden projects in the city of Houston. http://www.girlonthegrow.com
