One's backyard is the best place to experiment. Learn how to sketch a cool garden design, determine which materials to use and which vegetables grow best in gumbo soil. Learn about the key elements every garden needs to thrive and, of course, selecting the most productive and delicious produce you can grow.
Presenter:Kim Perry was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, where she received her bachelor's degree from Metropolitan State University in the field of Social Work. She also received her Master's degree in Agriculture Science from Texas A&M, and currently serves as the Director of Education with Urban Harvest where she oversees the Community Garden Program, school glasses and programs as well as the educational classes. Prior to that Kim was the Harris County Extension Agent for Prairie View University where she facilitated educational workshops and classes for farmers and urban gardeners. For the past six years Kim has been one of the Harris County Master Gardeners, and was awarded the Outstanding Service Award in 2020. She’s been featured on several news channels, in many blogs, newsletters, and educational speaking engagements. During her down time she loves to garden, paint and make soap.
