Have you ever wished you could hold onto the taste of summer in the fall? Join us for a 2-part series on canning. Part 1 will be a virtual class where you'll learn about the basics of canning. We'll learn about the correct equipment, why and how we sterilize jars, the difference between water-bath canning for high-acid foods and pressure canning for low-acid foods. This is a beginner's course and a nice refresher course for people who know how to can. Part 1 will take place on Saturday, July 18th from 10am-11am.Part 2 will be a hands-on class and we'll discuss how to make your own delicious homemade jams, pickles, jellies, and sauces. In this class, participants will each help with preparing a recipe and take home a jar of pickles or preserves. Participants are encouraged to bring and wear an apron. Both classes will be presented by Alisha Hicks, with Heritage Havens. Part 2 will take place on Saturday, July 25th from 10am-12pm.
