  • Join us for exciting service-learning on Intro to Permaculture: Earthworks and Forest Gardening

    Location: The Ranch Houston, near Fuqua at Cullen Boulevard, 77048.

    Permaculture is all about designing sustainable living arrangements that are inspired by ecology and energy efficiency. In these workshops, we will introduce you to the principles and techniques of permaculture as they relate to the land, focusing on capturing energy and increasing yields.

    Sat 9/21 Day 1- Earthworks: We will dig in to the basics of Permaculture Principals the technique of earthworks to capture and store water and build a healthy soil web. Then, we will have hands-on demonstrations.

    Sat 9/28 Day 2- Forest Gardening


    - Intro to Permaculture Lesson
    - Garden Demonstrations
    - Service Learning Perma Blitz: All hands on deck to implement design principles (hands-on)

COMMUNITY GARDENS
With a network of over 140 edible gardens throughout the Greater Houston area, it's easy to get involved in a garden near you. Urban Harvest provides affiliate gardens with volunteer engagement and workdays; seed and plant distributions; and, free education opportunities to help each garden become long-lasting and well-established for the community it serves.

FARMERS MARKETS
Get to know your farmer at Urban Harvest's Farmers Markets. Here, you will find the freshest farm and artisanal products, each grown, raised, and made within 180 miles of Houston. What’s more, your food dollars stay in the local economy.
