Permaculture principal capturing water, through the techniques of of earth works in implementing swales and berms, to increase the contour of the garden with higher bed areas and larger bog areas which have been dug out by volunteers and the ecological landscape company Decentralized Farming, LLC. These techniques are methods to are to increase the capture of rainwater and recharge the water table. The next phases will include planting native and adapted plants to fill out the seven layers of the food forest for a self-managing system to maximize abundance to support high yield fruit trees, wildlife and capture of energy.
This will be followed by a foraging walk through the orchard and wild spaces of the garden. Lead b Joanna Botvin, she will cover foraging basics of safety, guidelines and identification plants.
