    Join us for lite bites and a demonstration in planting for Spring with our Director of Permaculture, Carol Burton. Our main central focus will be tips and tricks for planting a bountiful harvest of tomatoes. For the Houston area, we need a head start on tomatoes for maximizing flowering and fruiting production before it gets too hot in central area and south of town where we have a higher heat index. We will review, equipment, plant food, and protection specifically for tomatoes to ensure protection until we are past danger of frost. Followed by permaculture principal of planting in guilds - favorite planting companions for tomatoes.

    A short talk is followed by Hands-on demonstration and planting in our teaching garden.

    Cost: $20 includes light lunch and plants for take home to start your spring garden.

With a network of over 140 edible gardens throughout the Greater Houston area, it's easy to get involved in a garden near you. Urban Harvest provides affiliate gardens with volunteer engagement and workdays; seed and plant distributions; and, free education opportunities to help each garden become long-lasting and well-established for the community it serves.

FARMERS MARKETS
Get to know your farmer at Urban Harvest's Farmers Markets. Here, you will find the freshest farm and artisanal products, each grown, raised, and made within 180 miles of Houston. What’s more, your food dollars stay in the local economy.
